I live in Austin and am interested in native plants of Central and West Texas. I'm also interested in eradication of invasive plants in the same areas, and in encouraging preservation and re-introduction of native plants to disturbed areas.

I find the number of plants in the world so inspiring. Every one is a mystery of untold stories. Some how its kind got here and we can only make educated guesses as to how.

Conversely, we have so many fewer plants in disturbed areas than there once were. I find it just as inspiring to look around and imagine which plants might have ones been happy here.. We have a good idea of what does well, and what is and was native... but there is always more room to experiment and guess and interact with the nature around us.

We have been a force of change for many hundreds of years, and we can chose to be oblivious, or to destroy or to create. I hope I can encourage some creation by eliminating invasives and learning about rare and endangered plants that may be candidates for replacing invasives.
