I teach Chinese language and literature at a small college (Southwestern University), and am deeply dyed in poetry, fascinated by nature, which is a gift given me by a dad who took his children on walks in woods, streams and fields and showed us marvels otherwise never seen, and which he attributes to a Biology prof he had in the 40's at BYU in Utah. Also to a mother who read all the books that bring a love of close seeing to a child. I also have recently acquired a phone with a good capacity for close up photos. What fun! I have also recently fallen back into an old habit of unofficial but direct engagement with Chinese poets, who were all naturalists and very human observers. The best of these seem to me to light the world around them as they were also lit by it, in the which there is, "once, then, something." Seeing things and finding out what they are -- two kinds of joy.
