Mothing at Clymer Prairie Preserve - Saturday, July 29th

Hi everyone!

The Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT) is hosting a moth night at The Nature Conservancy’s Clymer Meadow Preserve in Celeste on Saturday, July 29th from 8pm to late.

It would be great to get some more folks out there with mothing stations - I'll have a couple black lights, but the more the merrier! If you'd like to come out, please respond here or shoot me an email at carly_aulicky@texasprairie.org so I have a solid head count.

Tagging some folks in the comments!

Waaaa! :( I'll miss this -- I bet the black-lighting at Clymer would be AWESOME.

Alas, I'll be at Acton Nature Center on July 29. I wish moth week was all year long. :)

I'm so sorry, but I can't make it that day. I'm sure it will be super productive in terms of species out there. What a great place!

This sounds great, and it is closer than Acton Nature Center, which by the way have awesome mothing. I'm sure there will be fantastic mothing at this location as well, and I'm planning on participating. I can bring a couple of setups.

Looking forward to seeing you @annikaml and @amzapp! I really wish it was moth month- there's so many cool events competing for limited weekend space!

@baxter-slye I do have an RSVP set up for other groups that I've invited! There's a short form set up on the NPAT website to help me keep track of who said they are coming and how many folks are coming out: https://texasprairie.org/moth-night-at-clymer-meadow-preserve/. Anyone on this thread who said they are coming are already accounted for! :)

I’ll try to make it, schedule permitting, with a station. Amazing prairie, and I’ve only hiked it during the day. Thanks for the re-tag, @annikaml !

I really want to see this place. Unfortunately I am on call for work that weekend. So can't go that far. Hopefully another time soon.

@brentano I totally understand! I'm sure I will see you at another event sometime soon!

Some event details:

The event officially starts at 8 pm, but I am planning to be there at 7 pm to start setting up mothing stations. If you have a station that you’re planning to set up, please feel free to arrive sometime after 7 pm.

We will be meeting at the barn on Clymer Meadow, and I have included directions to the barn below. You will also find contact information for Brandon Belcher, The North Texas Reserves Manager for The Nature Conservancy, in case you get turned around on your way.

Both NPAT and TNC require anyone who comes out onto a prairie to sign a liability waiver. If you haven’t come out for a NPAT event in the last year, I’ll have you fill in a new one. Brandon Belcher will have TNC forms for everyone to fill out on site.

Let me know if you have any questions!

@chasingchickens UNT SER will have 3 set ups and right now around 5 students are going (they should have RSVPd on your site). I am passing them info from here to their Discord.
