A lone shrub growing in a highly disturbed area in the middle of Albuquerque, benefiting from runoff from the adjacent car wash. No other mesquites (planted or wild) are nearby—I think this most likely represents a wild, native tree that regrew (from root or seed) after bulldozing of the area.

At the top of Carlito springs, on a hillside near buildings. Must be planted—I don't think this species is naturally found this far North. A seedling is growing at the base of the tree, I didn't get a picture.

I'm hoping this observation turns some heads, because I'm rather flabbergasted at the existence of this Palo Verde. I'm sure it's origin is a car ride from the Sonoran Desert, but the fact that it's managed to thrive at 4,900 feet in an area that sees regular freezes and snowfall, surrounded by a foreign plant community, is astonishing, AND It still flowers and appears to be thriving.

Located on the south side of the entrance road to the state park. There is a pullout about 50 feet uphill, but people drive like lunatics during Park hours so please be careful if you do visit this individual.

Did not notice it while there but found it in this image. It is low left of center in the full image. May be the northern most "wild" observation in iNat if confirmed!?

Note the size perspective offered by @greglasley in front of this massive tree. This is an isolated grove of this species, apparently the only such grove known in the wild in Texas.

Dolan Falls Preserve is owned by The Nature Conservancy and is not open to the public. Access is through special permission only. The preserve is adjacent to Devil's River State Natural Area, which is open to the public on a restricted schedule.

36" tall x 48" wide. This haystack is the largest I saw, among several other good-sized plants visible or visited within 40-50 yards. Extreme steepness and uneven, rocky terrain here probably hides many more haystacks, large and small.

Several small trees, maybe 12-15” DBH, did not appear to be planted (they were in a pretty intact scene and randomly arranged). No other trees nearby. I saw that someone else observed these same trees a couple years ago—they are still there and doing great!
