Friendly competition
I was thinking when will the kinglets start sowing in south carolina . So I decided to host this friendly competition of who will find the first kinglets golden or ruby crowned in the state of south Carolina. @sharonoutside @torgos23 @sc_beetles @jtmartin54 @rtwhitson3 @kkeivit

It's usually around mid-October (give or take) before I spot any in my backyard here in the upstate. However, last Wednesday night I swear I heard one constantly singing for a good while. First, from the cover of a Kwanzan cherry on the left side of my yard, then from the cover of crepe myrtles on the right. Never could put my eye nor lens on it as it stayed deep in the foliage both places, so I can't say with certainty that's what it was. Sure sounded like one though. - John

Great job @jtmartin54 you win. I wonder if the cool temps has brought back a little quicker then normal.
Cooler temps could be a factor (this was a week or so earlier than previous sightings). I think the cool temps could be why my juvenile and adult female hummingbirds seem to be departing a little earlier than usual. Then again. kinglets could have always been passing through this early, just not when I was looking. lol
The hummingbirds that frequent my feeder are gone as well :(
