California Fire Followers 2021

COMING SOON

I want to take a quick moment to share a feeling of immense gratitude for how far the Fire Followers Project has come. Thank you all for the continuous support and participation in our project. Thanks to every single person involved, our 2020 Fire Followers Project has reached well over 67,000 observations, 3,500+ observers and 2,500+ identifiers! I cannot wait to see what this year brings and I look forward to reaching that 100,000th observation soon!

With that being said, I am thrilled to announce the addition of our new 2021 Fire Followers Project which will add all the burn perimeters from this past fire season. Head over to our 2021 project to follow and trust the project! We will continue to post events and challenges on both projects so stay tuned for that!

I've been trying to find 2021 fire perimeter shapefiles for CA (at least the major ones) that I can import to my wildflower location map, but I haven't been able to pin down a good set. I have 2020 and older. Do you have a source for this that you can share?

I appreciate the comments. Thank you both for being a part of this! @snakeinmypocket @gyrrlfalcon

Hey @charlescrussell, I can send you the shapefiles via email if you'd like. Feel free to send me an email and I'll send them over!

Did you mean for your image to link to Flickr? Also the first link, "addition of our new 2021 Fire Followers Project, which... " just opens this journal post again.

@arboretum_amy thanks for catching that! The first link should work now. Also, if you click on any image it will take you to Flickr since that's where I upload them to be able to add them on here.

@jaesparza11 Thanks! I just sent an email to you. I appreciate the help very much

Yes I understand you are hosting the image on Flickr, but I believe you can embed the image without making it a link. Or I think you could change the link destination to iNat or cnps.org.

Forgive me for nitpicking; it will be fine if you leave it as is. Thank you for all your work on this project.

Thanks, Jose. I plan to keep posting to iNaturalist this late witner and spring.
