Please Only Add Observations of Escapees

Someone (I don't know who, maybe multiple people) added a bunch of observations of birds that are well-established in the US such as Black-throated Magpie-Jay and Red-crowned Parrot. Just because they are not ABA countable doesn't mean they are escapees. If the population is breeding, please don't add any observations of that population.

Just curious, I'm new to iNaturalist so trying to figure things out. Someone just added my Monk Parakeet sighting to this group. While it is not normally seen in my area, Memphis, TN, I think maybe it is a native along the Gulf Coast, but I'm not sure. We sighted this bird shortly after a hurricane made landfall on the Gulf Coast so I think he was blown north and would not be considered an escapee. Any thoughts?

I think that observation is fine in this project, but you can remove it if you want.

Just want to ask a point of clarification. Are free roaming pets considered escapees addable to this project. Under most state or municipal laws if a pet sets foot off the owners property and the owner is not in complete control l of the animal it is considered roaming. Would roaming pets be addable to this project. I know you said if it has a breeding population not to added it, so I am not referencing feral dog or cat populations but individual "roaming" pets. I want to be sure I don't contribute inappropriate data to your project. I know how annoying that is.

@tylermowery I guess it would depend on the exact situation. Is there a specific observation you are referring to?

Not necessarily but for example I have a couple of observations of a cat caught on my bird bath camera, no idea where it came from but it’s too fat to be a feral I would think. Would that qualify?

I wouldn't add that. Given the amount of Feral Cats wandering around I don't think it's is unreasonable to assume wandering cats are feral, but Feral Cats explicitly do not meet the requirements for this project anywhere they are established, which would be most areas.
