Arcata Marsh - April 7, 2019

At 2:35 I left campus with my partner. We arrived at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Refuge via G Street at 2:42. It was raining and windy, the temperature was about 64 degrees F. As we made our way to the avocet observation point by the Oxidation POnds the wind and rain picked up. We got to the avocet observation point at 2:53. While we were there we saw a flock of birds that we thought might have been avocets. When they were flying they looked mostly black and white but when they were at rest their bodies looked mostly light brown, We were not able to distinguish if they actually were avocets or not. They were mostly flying or feeding. We arrived at our tree at 3:28, the rain had stopped by then. We collected our data and needed observations and headed back to the car. The wind picked up on our way over there and we arrived at the car and left the marsh at 3:54. We arrived back on campus at 4:15 but had stopped by the store on the way.
