Happy New Year!

We're hoping that one of your New Year's resolutions is to hone your naturalist skills and the best way to do that is to get outside! Take a walk during the January thaw and let us know what you find! This month, we'll still keep an eye out for insect signs so focus your search on finding galls. Galls are areas of enlarged plant growth that form around a small wasp or fly inside the plant. Goldenrod galls, caused by a small fly, are one of the most common around here. Take a walk in a patch of old field and look for small "balls" that form in the middle of the goldenrod stem.
