I fell in love with birds as a little kid and birds, birding and ornithology have been a major part of my life and passion ever since. I joined the California Bird Records Committee in 2003 as only the second woman to serve on the CBRC. In 2018 I joined the American Birding Association Checklist Committee. Both of those committees involve vetting records of rare birds.
I work with Point Blue Conservation Science managing California Gull research at Mono Lake. I got into butterflies, beetles and bugs several years ago and am now totally hooked.
I live near Mono Lake, CA where the Great Basin and Sierra Nevada come together – it’s a great place to be a naturalist. I feel very fortunate to live here. My iNat account is heavy on the bugs, as I feel they need the most help in having baseline distribution data documented. Plus, most insects lack an easy to use field guide, and I really, really appreciate the help of the iNat community in identifying the trickier things!
