I have master's and PhD degrees in fisheries ecology from the University of Washington; while in graduate school, I studied the local cancrids (Dungeness, red rock, graceful, and pygmy rock crabs), focusing on their mating systems. After grad school, I worked for NOAA Fisheries in the Pathobiology and Kodiak crab groups. I retired from NOAA in 2020 and now can spend more time diving and photographing wildlife.
