I study plants and rocks with an emphasis on edaphic endemism, biogeography, speciation and cool evolutionary histories (long lonely branches or broad radiations). I'm a firm believer that modern human civilization has the same modus operandi of a cancer cell. I find most human infrastructure, values systems and economies revolting, but I ingest a heavy dose of humor to help keep the vomit down. I enjoy fine Taquerias with numerous health code violations, fuzzy slippers, frivolously collecting rocks, and very brief walks on the beach.
