I received a Ph.D in comparative psychology from the University of Arizona in 1981. My research was in learning, attention, memory, and hypothesis behavior primarily with Capuchin monkeys (Cebus appella). I conducted one (unsuccessful) study with round-tailed ground squirrels (Spermiphilus tetracaudus) - unsuccessful because by the time they adapted to the test apparatus, they were ready to hibernate and became torpid. :-)

The market for animal behavior jobs being what it was, I landed a job at IBM where I studied complex tool use by another primate, Homo sapiens, i.e. I became a human factors psychologist.

I now lead a team of software designers.
