Particularly interested in marine/land molluscs and soil invertebrates in New Zealand.

ID expertise: Global marine molluscs. Marine & Land & Freshwater molluscs from New Zealand. and a bit of everything else.

On iNaturalist, I focus on taxonomic groups and localities/habitats that fewer records are known from, while I also record as many taxa as I possibly can.
Heavily addicted birder.
Basically, I do Bioblitz the whole time!

Published work
Kenji YOKOYAMA and Saryu MAE. Shell fossils and the sedimentation environment of the shell fossil dense layer of The Middle Pleistocene Negoya Formation
at Negoya in the Udo Hill, Shizuoka City, central Japan
, Bulletin of the Museum of Natural and Environmental History, Shizuoka, 2018, Japan
Co-authored this paper with a Japanese geologist Kenji Yokoyama, using the specimens of fossil molluscs I have collected, prepared and identified.
It's not my work, but two of my observations of an uncommon introduced species are mentioned.

It is my wish that all of the content I have contributed to iNaturalist (media, observations, identifications, comments etc) remain on the site in the event of my death.
