Amaal Yazdi is an Iranian- American insect ecology and conservation major at the University of Delaware focusing on Hymenoptera in her studies. She has a background in fine arts and her work is most often inspired by the natural sciences. She travels back and forth to Iran and would like to work on documenting insects in West Asia in the near future. She is passionate about the intersection of entomology and liberation, especially in the areas of environmental justice, anti-colonialism, and empowering scientists of color. She has also worked on presentations regarding the biodiversity crisis in occupied Palestinian lands and hopes to continue these efforts in the coming years.
