OBSERVACIÓN:
En fecha 19 de marzo de 2015, Marian García H., fotografió e identificó un ejemplar de Coelophora inaequalis (Fabricius, 1775), en Puerto Moreno, (Isla de Margarita, Estado Nueva Esparta, Venezuela), siendo uno de los pocos registros que hay de ella en el área de América del Sur, el primer registro en Nueva Esparta, y uno de los primeros en Venezuela, donde según datos de Coccinellidae de Venezuela, también ha sido observada en los Estados Lara y Monagas, aunque no se conocen los datos de esas observaciones. Interesante también por localizarse en territorio insular. Es también el primer registro de esta especie para Venezuela en la plataforma iNaturalist.

• DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ESPECIE:
  Forma casi circular. Cabeza amarilla. Pronoto con la mitad anterior ocre y la posterior negra, con una característica línea de separación dentada. Élitros con cuatro manchas negras, irregulares (1:2:1) y la sutura con una franja negra desde 1/6 del largo al ápice del elitro. Lado ventral negro excepto epipleuras y gran parte de hipómeros claros. Patas con femures negros, tibias y tarsos ocres, antenas y piezas bucales ocres. Variación de la especie: especie muy variable en sus países de origen, aunque el autor solo ha visto la forma indicada procedente de Venezuela y Colombia. Los ejemplares pueden ser ocres, amarillos o rojos, otros con puntos pequeños, algunas listados, etc. Por ello se la conoce como la "mariquita variable" ("variable ladybird"). Tamaño: 4,0 a 7,0 mm. La especie es de importancia agrícola ya que es un potente predador de áfidos. Se desconoce si ha sido citada previamente de Colombia. La observación de Guillermo González fue agregada a Coccinellidae de Venezuela el 18 de mayo de 2014 y modificada el 15 de septiembre de 2016, con la actualización del registro en Brasil (Pernambuco) hecho por Mauricio Silva de Lima, quien indicó que es abundante en esa localidad. OBSERVATION:

• DESCRIPTION OF THE SPECIES:
  Almost circular shape. Yellow head Pronotum with the ocher anterior half and the posterior black, with a characteristic serrated separation line. Eliters with four black spots, irregular (1: 2: 1) and the suture with a black strip from 1/6 of the length to the apex of the elitro. Ventral side black except epipleuras and a large part of clear hypomers. Legs with black femurs, tibia and ocher tarsus, antennae and ocher mouthparts. Variation of the species: very variable species in their countries of origin, although the author has only seen the indicated form from Venezuela and Colombia. The specimens can be ocher, yellow or red, others with small dots, some listings, etc. This is why it is known as the "ladybird variable" ("ladybird variable"). Size: 4.0 to 7.0 mm. The species is of agricultural importance as it is a powerful aphid predator. It is unknown if it has been previously cited from Colombia.
