Leif Ericson Park- 3/5/20

I took a lovely walk at Leif Ericson Park located in Brooklyn, New York today. The weather was perfect for a walk as it was nice and sunny with no wind so it felt warmer than it really was. While walking around the park, I noticed that some plants were starting to grow and blossom, indicating that spring is just around the corner. To my disappointment, I didn't see many animals except for the usual squirrels and birds. But I did discover some organisms that I usually don't notice when I go to the park, such as various plant species and lichen. I hope I will see more plants and animals in the park when I come back to visit it in the springtime.

Hammond Pond Reservation- 2/21/20

I took a wonderful walk near Hammond Pond on a beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon to de-stress after a tough week. Although the sun shone brightly in the clear sky, it was still chilly because it was windy and only 30 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of the Boston winter. During the walk, I didn't see any animals and only a few plant species, probably because of how cold it was. There was a thin layer of ice that formed on the surface of the pond too. I came across some plants, such as what seemed like a young pine tree and flowers that might bloom when the weather gets warmer. Overall, the walk was a great way to end the week. I hope I will get to see more plants and animals in the upcoming months.
