Utah's City Nature Challenge - we need your help!

Hello UT iNaturalist Community!

We are one day away from the 2019 City Nature Challenge (CNC), and need your help to record Utah’s biodiversity! From April 26-29, any iNaturalist observation made within Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Salt Lake, Summit, Utah and Weber counties will count in the Challenge. The Natural History Museum of Utah is hosting a team of organizations in Utah to compete against over 150 cities worldwide for the CNC. Every iNaturalist observation helps! Thanks to our amazing partners, there are 15 free City Nature Challenge events happening Friday through Monday. Check the Natural History Museum of Utah website to find an event near you: nhmu.utah.edu/challenge. If you can't make it to an event, you can still participate in the challenge by making observations on your own!

NHMU’s CNC BioBlitz event is Saturday April 27, from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm, at the Fife Wetland Preserve (952 S 11th W, Salt Lake City, UT). We would love to see you there! Salt Lake City Parks & Public Lands will use baseline data (iNaturalist observations) collected at Fife to inform future park development and management.

In last year’s challenge, Utah participants made 3,670 observations and documented 628 species. We are excited to see where the challenge leads us this year!

From the Citizen Science team at NHMU, a huge thank you for your engagement in iNaturalist, and continued contributions to the record of biodiversity in Utah. Join this year’s CNC project page “City Nature Challenge 2019: The Wasatch” to check out Utah’s progress this year!
