One of the only snakes I've seen in my yard. It was about 10-12 inches long, found on the porch (smooth concrete, on which it had a really hard time moving - spent most of its panic escape time wiggling back and forth rapidly and only moving forward slowly).

I'm not a snake expert, but a friend says that the keeled scales eliminate Smooth Earth, and there is too little contrast between the head and body for Flathead snake. Confirmation would be appreciated!
