On the edge of a vineyard and forested tree-line near my home on a ridge in Sebastopol
Growing on leaves of Rubus ursinus which is crawling up a fence
Bright orange splotches on underside of leaf as well as growing on sepals of maturing berry
I think these are little insect larvae, but not sure.
I've noticed the discoloration on the ferns in previous years, but this is the first year (and this observation the second time) I noticed the little creatures crawling on the underside in association with the yellowing.
Overall, it looks like there might be a rust infecting the fern, are the creatures feeding on that, or is what I'm thinking looks like a rust, just the feeding damage?
