Collected in a soil sample from beside a rotten log. Separated via Berlese funnel.
Surrounding area was mossy and moist, lots of Sword Ferns and Salal. Canopy mostly Red Cedar and Doug Fir, with a large Maple nearby (maple leaves in leaf litter)
Tiny - 1.5-2mm?
Yellow sticky trap by canola paddock
Found a small leaf wrapped cocoon some time ago and held on to it, but instead of a moth, several hundred of these guys came out! Thought they were fruit flies at first with how small they are. Finally got a chance to take pics with a microscope- noticed weird little spurs on the back legs and teardrop-shaped antennae tips

Found buried at the base of a tree.
Cleared from bug zapper
Found in a field with a sweep net.
About 1.5 mm long. Very fast runner! Ran non-stop along my hand and arm, so was amazed to have gotten this shot.
