Tree has smooth bark with conspicuous lenticels. Leaves are shiny above and glabrous both above and below. Buds are up to 8mm long and very slightly hairy. Fruits are small, brown pomes with speckles and gritty flesh. Twigs lack odor or glands on petiole.

Tree has thickly furrowed bark. Terminal buds are absent, and the base of petioles are swollen. Lateral buds are hidden under membrane on leaf scar. Fruit is a dry brown legume with black seeds. Leaves are bright green and once-pinnately compound. Twigs and fruits are glabrous.
