Descrição

This is the EXACT area I heard one last year, as well. Both a first time anywhere in the Trabuco unit of CNF for me and a local naturalist well known in the area. They are a real rare thing to hear. I also had about a five second visual sighting. The dot on this map is just below the road in a sycamore-alder mixed riparian area with year around water (though a small amount in drought years), big leaf maple and quercus agrifolia. This represents the confluence of Spruce Canyon Watershed and upper Silverado Watershed. Really a fabulous and dynamic area and also terrific for birds. Have also heard large mammal species here. Due to location, I assume this is S. g. anthonyi? I bird in this area daily and am confident of the location dot.
