Poisson hemlock growing along the southwest edge of Langhor Park, Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana. This population was apparently treated with herbicide, the non judicious use of which has caused a decrease in forbs and concomitantly facilitated the spread of smooth brome (Bromus inermis) and other exotic mostly rhizomatous grasses in this and in many moist to wet areas of Gallatin County. Poisson hemlock remains common in this area and along the Gallagator trail system even though it is regularly subjected to herbicide.

Poison hemlock sporadically inhabiting moist meadows of mostly introduced grasses (e.g., smooth brome) in the Cherry River Fishing Access, Gallatin County, Montana. During August 2022, most poison hemlock individuals were infested with aphids.
