Spikelets pedicellate, paired, 2.0-2.5 mm long in 4 rows. Lower glume absent. Upper glume and sterile lemma similar and equal length to spikelet, fringed with king silky hairs, 3 nerves. Glume sparsely covered with appressed silky hairs, sterile lemma almost glabrous. Fertile florets 1.8 mm long, smooth.
sizeable population in road reserve /train corridor
Awn to 3cm long and leaves to 4mm wide, distinguished from A. bigeniculata
Forgot to check how many flowers were in each spikelet but it looks like less than 6 from my photo and that the glumes are slightly longer than the florets - so decided on this species over R. racemosum. I also don’t think the callus is narrow and long as described in R. racemosum but I’m on the fence.
Found in disturbed Cypress Pine - Grey Box forest.
growing amongst watery pockets on the mountain.
