Just the one found today. Always a treat to still see them holding on at Deer Lake.
I've seen this species listed in old literature for Richmond Nature Park, but never found it myself prior to today.
Two of them together (a first for me in Metro Vancouver), and they even posed nicely for photos - as compared to most of my local Grey Hairstreak photos that are in-flight desperation pics.
Probably a female - flying slow, and crawling low around plants. Less blue spots above than the other individual.
Light brown above as seen where the wing is ripped, so probably a female.
I did a second pass of the area to double check if there were more than two Grey Hairstreaks - I found none, and this Brown Elfin was different than the individual seen a few minutes earlier. Butterflies move quickly!
