These beautiful orange pincushions proteas looked really striking, but somehow not quite right ... whereas the very abundant and profusely flowering yellow mountain pincushions tended to meld into the landscape more subtly. I was told later that the orange ones do not occur naturally on the Peninsula and had been planted ... which probably accounted for their not quite fitting in ... having being planted and alien to the local area.
I don't think that it was a garden escapee. So will tick the cultivated option above ... hope that that is the correct procedure?
