Red inflorescence, thorns, small petiole, brown woody stem, alternate leaves, terminal bud, glabrous surface, smooth margin
Found this on a friends farm. Figured it was in the nightshade family based on flowers. Turns out it is!
Smilax of some sort. Example is in poor condition so I'm not sure of the species
Very thin, viny stems. Leaflets in groups of 3 with very faint white midline veins. The entire plant is very small
Very small example of Virginia creeper
Not sure on this oak. Thinking it's a southern red oak or a black oak.
Kind of a poor picture. Some sort of hickory, maybe a pignut? 5 leaflets in 2 opposite pairs and one on the end.
This stand of trees has multiple examples of Liriodendron.
Alternate leaf pattern with serrated leaves. Nearby examples have "wings" along the stem.
Muscadine that has grown over top of a tree
An example of mockernut hickory from my front yard. This tree was here before the house was built. Second picture has my brother next to entire tree for scale
Approximately six inches high with the largest leaf around the size of my hand. Based on veination, texture of top of leaves, and other plants in the area I'm fairly sure it is pokeweed.
Very small oppositely arranged leaves
Three leaflets with with white lines near the base. Multiple small white flowers in groups.
Small, about a foot tall growing in bushes. Fascicles of 3 leaves
Whorled leaves, reddish under surface, waxy upper surface with a white tint to the green leaves, woody stem
Alternately arranged fronds with “thumbs” and serrate margins. Sand-like on the under surface. Long brown hairs on stems.
Smooth surfaces, white bottom surface of leaves
