I startled this Fox, who was in a wooded clearing. He or she ran to the fence line, then stood and looked back at me while I took these photos.

Spotted walking among the pine needles and tassels, with a brief foray onto a stone walkway. Fairly large for an ant here. I didn't see any companion ants.

This insect flew down a few times into my watering can before landing on this trellis. He or she is about an inch long.

This small but lively bee was one of hundreds on a sunny swath of Solidago rugosa. They are about a third of the size of the carpenter bees, who preferred a nearby Abelia chinensis.
