Descrição

Measured today about 63” abh which is about 200” girth. Pretty tall tree considering it’s growing from the second highest elevation in the state. However its crown spread is limited by neighbors.

A few decades ago, there was a fire tower nearby, where a picnic pavilion now stands. The top of this tree reached above the top of the tower, before the tower was removed.

Descrição

Continued observation of sub-sample of a bird bath "seed stock" sample originally collected 2021-02-24.

This sub-sample appears to have become nutrient-poor. Bacterial concentrations are low and most of the protists have disappeared or become dormant. Few small, colorless flagellates remain. The Chilodonellidae bloom has disappeared entirely. Opercularia have reverted to cyst form but are still obviously present. Rotifers (Philodina) remain prolific and active.
