Descrição

Second specimen I’ve seen at this site, the southernmost site for this species known so far. Seems to be strictly coastal this far south, specimens are small (25mm), with the larger “crassalis” form (35mm) occuring further inland. Another undescribed species (dull black, 30mm) is common around Timaru gullies.

Descrição

Quite a few Rauparaha's copppers observed flying in warm sunshine, late morning, on steep riverside bank, native and adventive scrub. were feeding on a purple flower - what is it?

Flying in company with several common coppers and an occasional glade copper. This is the third locality in the Geraldine hills where I have observed this. Boulder coppers present on the river flats also.
