Descrição

This is my second time visiting this population; the first observation was perhaps too early in the flowering stage to determine the species accurately, but a month later I had a lot more to work with. I made a partial collection of a few flowers for ID purposes. I am pretty confident in the ID, as the spur length is at least twice that of the lip, a characteristic that differentiates this species from P. sparsiflora. One flower had a lip that was 5.5 mm and a spur that measured 15 mm. This was located in an alcove hanging garden area, which also suggests this species (although I am sure there is overlap with P. sparsiflora, but generally it prefers wetter stream-side locations). I don't pretend to be an expert in orchids, so I would appreciate any input!
