Near "a river" (or was it a stream? Maybe the river is the friends we make along the way?), in mature kānuka/scrub. Four of us were walking a bush trail, me in the back, and this little idiot ran across the track right in front of me! Luckily I had my eyes peeled for other beasties or I might've stood on it. My first ever wild green gecko!
