Something seemed off about this corella. It was on a very low branch, and it let me go really close and didn't fly away. Also, its left wing looked much lower than its right wing, so I thought it could have been injured. We ended up calling WIRES, and I decided just to wait with it rather than catching it straight away as it didn't move much. About an hour later, someone from WIRES arrived and agreed that the wing looked damaged. The first time he tried to catch it, it managed to glide into someone's backyard. He then asked the home owner if he could catch the bird. After successfully catching it, he said that he suspects its wing was only dislocated as it managed to glide a bit. He also said that as it is likely only dislocated rather than fractured or broken, it will likely survive with help from a vet.

Weather: Clear, sunny, winds calm, air temperature approx. 18°C.
River notes: Nepean River swollen, flowing quickly north towards Penrith Weir.
Other Notes: initially observed at 9:01am off eastern bank of Nepean River approx. 150 m south of the Penrith Weir. Swam due south approx. 2-10m off the river bank. Surfaced briefly every approx. 1 min before diving again. Travelled for 600 m from 9:01-9:13am, but could not follow any further past the Yandhai Nepean Crossing.
