(Previously notyouraveragecatlady) Amateur naturalist and photographer for 25 years. Love flowers, ferns, fungi, rocks, lichen, insects, spiders, even the occasional vertebrate... so a generalist. I enjoy identifying, documenting and photographing them, and occasionally trying for decent pix. Biology major in college, which is the closest I've come to formal training, but have learned a lot over the years.

I rain garden to control all the storm runoff from the entire street (not by choice) that should go into the storm drain but we don't have one of those so it goes onto my front garden. I photo-monitor a private reserve in the Pinckney Michigan area, and periodically volunteer with the local green spaces conservation group. I'm working on documenting the flora in the 300+ green spaces in the greater Ann Arbor area. I'm particularly fond of "belly flowers," the ones so small you have to get down on your belly to see.

I am also volunterring with the organizing of the Ann Arbor/Washtenaw county 2020 Coty Nature Challenge.
