Valle de Oro is an urban oasis in Albuquerque that many groups and agencies, including Bernalillo County, helped to purchase. The refuge, owned and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, includes 431 acres of land along the Rio Grande. The urban refuge will eventually encompass 570 acres, and be a place for people to get outside and truly enjoy nature within their own community. The property is currently in the conceptual planning phase, however, the area open monthly for tours as well as other events throughout the year.
