Texas Eagle Nests in the news

Thank you to Trey Barron, our TPWD Bald Eagle coordinator and one of our project curators, for getting the Texas Eagle Nests project mentioned in an article about the annual Bald Eagle Count in east Texas: https://woodcountymonitor.com/stories/wood-county-bald-eagle-population-tabulated,158671

Please spread the word - every observation helps us learn more about these birds and their recovery!

Whiterock Lake/ Highland Park Eagles nest. My observation is a log started 2/9/24 and we now have 2 6-7 week old eaglets in the nest.
We have a pair of Redtail Hawks who are daily flying by and occasionally diving at the nest. The adults are at times off the nest but appear close. Today a redtail hawk landed in the sycamore tree the nest is in and the male arrived and chased the hawk away. We have numerous photographers producing still and video of the breeding and feeding. Many things on the menu: Carp(main item), catfish, Coots, Franklin Gulls, squirrels, cormorants.
