Invasive crayfish are a major problem for the Great Lakes states. Each of the 39 native species of crayfish in this region each make up an important part of their food webs. However, invaders like red swamp and rusty crayfishes are diminishing these populations. New invasive crayfish populations are typically small and hard to detect, but their small populations also make them easier to manage.
