Durand Open Space is a 10 acre agriculture property with a perimeter walking trail and comfortable gathering area. The property has a wonderful history in aviation from when is served as a landing strip and maintenance shop for single and twin-engine airplanes. Today the property serves birds and wildlife rather than planes. Visitors can enjoy a community gathering space with tables, benches, a shade structure, art and interpretive signs that present the properties unique history and current-day features. From Durand Open Space, visitors can walk around the property as well as into the bosque for a hike into the woods to a scenic overlook of the Rio Grande and Sandia Mountains. Don’t forget your binoculars!
