To the people with lots of observations in Southwest Louisiana, we'd love to see tons of observations this weekend! If you can't make it out to SWLA this weekend, we could still use help identifying all that was seen! Results will be announced on Friday May 4, so we'll have Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to identify observations.

@kgardner, totally understand. If you're in Vernon Parish, anything you do get a chance to post (maybe even a photo of an RCW) will count towards the City Nature Challenge. Just wanted to make the iNat users in the area aware.

@ilouque I'm curious if they do any vetting? Several of the Hong Kong observations are silly - people, furniture and Pomeranians!

@amberenergy that's where the identification period comes in. Anytime before May 4, anyone can go in and identify species and mark the really silly ones so they get filtered out. Yeah, after the news interview yesterday, I saw a couple of observations of peoples sheds, dogs on leashes, etc.

@ilouque oh, OK, only the observations that have a second ID will count? That's hard to do, but good!

@amberenergy not necessarily. Pretty much all the observations will count, but you (or anyone) can respond by marking no for "Evidence of Organism" in the Data Quality Assessment. It's a little tricky for sure. https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/responses#notorg

Very cool! There’s a good chance that I’ll make it to the Cameron coast one of those days.
