5 petal white flower. Alternate pinnate leaves. Flower looks a little like Biglow's tobacco except the flower is much shorter lacking the long tube at the base of the petals. 12 white flowers clustered on at end of the stem, flowers are small 1/8 inch long, white petals appear fused forming a cup like structure. Sepals are green and small. count of petals is difficult -- maybe 3 petals and 3 stamens (maybe 4)?
stem < 1/8 inch diameter about 1 inch between leaf nodes towards base of stem. Stem has very short stiff hairs that make stem feel rough. Leaves towards the base of the stem are 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide about 1/3 of length from the petiole towards the end of the leaf

rwainsleyDescrição
Floating aquatic plants with geranium like leaves. Has not bloomed since mid summer. I recall a yellow flower but I never spent time looking at the flower. This plant is not migrating westward in large masses like water hyacinth and Mexican water fern are now doing. Floating masses seem to grow into the shore anchoring them unlike water hyacinth and Mexican water fern which are foating freely.

Género AzollaObservador
rwainsleyDescrição
This plant is very small aquatic floating on the surface. Each plant has 2 roots extending down into the water about 3/4 inch long and very straight and thin and flexible. The “leaf” starts out green then turns brown which may be spores? There is no stem. The plant consists of 2 leaf like structures fairly round and joined. Large masses of these plants clog water channels this time of year. These leaf like structures are very folded and feel thick but are small: perhaps 1/4” diameter.
