The Conchuela Bug is a relatively common bane to farmers across the Texas plains. This large stink bug is opportunistic, feeding on a wide variety of plant matter, particularly those planted in farmer's rows. This species begins feeding on Mesquite in the early spring, then moves to feeding on sorghum, and lastly finishes on cotton later in the season. This species particularly favors cotton bolls around the edges of fields, but can be found spread throughout the entire field when populations boom, greatly reducing yield.
