Welcome the PCHS Bioblitz!

What's a Bioblitz? Its an opportunity for a group of people to observe, study, and record the biodiversity of their local ecosystems using iNaturalist. The purpose of this Bioblitz is to do so for the area around Pulaski County High School and the surrounding county.

We will explore the land around the school during class time over the next month. You should feel free to explore around your home and neighborhood as well. Just use your phone to snap pictures of the local plants and animals in our bioregion.

As you explore just remember three rules for using iNaturalist:

  1. Do not take pictures of people, especially any pictures that include people's faces. This is a violation of their privacy and is useless for iNaturalist.
  2. Only take pictures of wild plants and animals. Do not take pictures of potted plants or gardens. This means no pictures of your dog or cat. iNaturalist exists to study the biodiversity of ecosystems around the world, not to document someone's success as a gardener!
  3. Do not take pictures of landscapes or nonliving objects such as water, rocks, or buildings. Again iNaturalist exists to study and record observations about the biodiversity of a region. 'Bio' means life and rocks aren't alive so don't take pictures of them!
