October 21st, 2020 (Wednesday) 9:00-10:30 am: no newts today!
Weather was nice. AQI was ok.
Other roadkills - a tiger moth caterpillar.
Coverage: north part - the county park parking lot till the second stop sign.
Traffic: 7 trucks, 17 cars, 1 motorcycle, 5 bikes, 27 pedestrians, and 45 cars parked by the road and in the parking lots.
County roads was repaving the road just north of the 2nd county park lot. Again, there were many trucks, pickups, and other large vehicles along the road (many of them with their engine on, again).
I did see the HT Harvey team today, but I saw at least 4 of the newly dug fences.
The rowing club was open. All county park parking lots were open.
There were very few hikers and fishermen on the road, but the 1st parking lot was busy as usual.

@merav, There is so much traffic going in and out of the Los Gatos Rowing Club that I still think it would be a good idea if they could shuttle their students/clients from the big gravel parking lot over the dam to their club. It sure would reduce traffic and roadkill a lot. When I approached them 2 years ago, they were very pleasant, but they said the responsibility lies with the clients, not the club. If they had hourly shuttles, I think it would reduce the traffice by about 100 vehicles per hour. What do you think?
I think it probably depends on season/ day/ time - I remember when I met you early on a Saturday morning there was high traffic going to the club. I think recently they had very low activity, at least on the time and day that I'm there. It's probably different on weekends.
I think if they would use shuttles during high activity time at the club and during the newt season, that could be very beneficial.
Yes, I hadn't thought of that. Probably fewer people are participating since March due to Covid-19.
It was closed for a while, and reopened at some point. On weekdays mornings, it doesn't look busy at all. But I wonder what it's like on weekends. It might be much different.
