Protozoa book

From one of our members:

This is a somewhat rare/very useful book.

Apparently a few hundred copies of An Illustrated Guide to the Protozoa (2nd edition) are now available on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-Guide-Protozoa-Society-Protozoologists/dp/B000N7O6MI

New and in there original plastic. Apparently the bookstore/morgue acquired them from a guy who had acquired hundreds of them from the Protozoologist Society.

EFFORT TO CATALOGUE EVERY MICROBE ON EARTH.

THE MICROBES LIVING on Earth are so plentiful as to be innumerable. Untold. Countless. Not in the hyperbolic sense, but the literal, gobsmacking sense. "It's estimated there are 100 million times as many bacteria as there are stars in the universe," says microbiologist Rob Knight, director of UC San Diego's Microbiome Center for Innovation. "And we know almost nothing about most of them."

Research Guidance

Having problems giving ID's to your microscopic observations? Check these resources out to help you identify your pond life, including diatoms & rotifers. Good luck on your quest for an accurate ID!

Special thanks to @biohexx1, who recommended these these resources in the previous journal post.

Welcome to Microscopic Microbes!

Welcome to Microscopic Microbes! Over the last few days, the project has had a big increase in members, and many new observations have been added! Thank you to all of you who have participated, especially @biohexx1.

Many microorganisms are hard to ID by species, so if anyone knows an ID for a observation in this project that cannot get a place in the Most Observed Species column, give it an ID!

Finally, Thank You for taking part in this project.
