The coyote (Canis latrans) is a widely distributed native North American canine with 19 subspecies weighing on average between 15 and 44 pounds. They live in family units or loosely knit packs of unrelated individuals. They’re primarily carnivores eating deer, rabbits, hares, rodents, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates. But they will eat fruits and vegetables, too.

Coyote Kills Pet Dog in LA Home After Entering Through Dog Door.

Activists sue Trump administration for not protecting imperiled Sierra Nevada red foxes.

In a 15-page filing Thursday in federal district court in San Francisco, attorneys for the Center for Biological Diversity and San Francisco Baykeeper sued the Trump administration for failing to protect the Sierra Nevada red fox and seven other at-risk species across the nation, under the Endangered Species Act.
