Inaugural City joining the City Nature Challenge 2022 Announced

Today, a very exciting note is that today the City Nature Challenge 2022:Saskatoon was added to the the Canada-wide umbrella project!

By joining the CNC Canada 2022 environmental initiative, we, in the City of Saskatoon are taking action locally. We are spurring on sustainable and climate action challenges through this international collaboration. By actively engaging in the City Nature Challenge, it reinforces a community of environmental champions and guardians so needed in this era of climate change.

The Canada City Nature Challenge 2022 is an initiative taken on by the Canada Wildlife Federation. To see which cities in Canada are set to go on to the world stage showcasing their amazing bio-diversity check out the Canadian Umbrella Project Page for CNC 2022.

As far as we can see, this is the first year that the City of Saskatoon and the Province of Saskatchewan has taken part in the World or Canadian CNC! So it will be a great challenge and opportunity for us to learn from the cities who have taken part previously.

If you know of anyone or any group in and around the City of Saskatoon who wants to take part in documenting organisms on iNaturalist between April 29 - May 2, 2022 let us know! We would love to have collaborators, and other co-hosts for the City of Saskatoon! There is a follow up event looking for folks to use their computers at home, and become identifiers! May 3-May 8, 2022. There will be more detailed information regarding times for in the field group nature connecting bio-blitzobservations April 29-May 2 still to come - and we encourage everyone to also go outdoors individually, also! And it is free!

Please, as an iNaturalist user, join our City of Saskatoon CNC YXE 2022 project page!

There is a draft webpage started for CNC YXE 2022 to spark engagement, information and interest, and we would love to add your involvement as a partner organization for sure!

Let us know if you would like to become a participant looking for dates and times to meet nature connect bio blitz groups - or if you are committed to going outdoors individually with iNaturalist loaded on your smartphone. It is very easy, and we have many resources to share. Our email is friendsafforestation@gmail.com

Let us know if you if you want your logo online as a partner organisation and help contribute to the promotion of the event, OR offer your skill-sets OR find sponsors for the event to get the dates out in the media OR lead your very own nature connect group bio-blitz with a date/time meetup via FB events or eventbrite!
