It's just a hobby. Born into a biologist family. Main interest in flies.
The fly on my nose was a Phaonia angelicae.
The photos are usually taken of living animals in their natural environment unless mentioned otherwise.
I do not collect specimens. But anybody who needs some is invited to come here and collect some, a spacious low-cost accomodation is available on site.

My current photo equipment:
Camera:

  • Olympus OM-D E-M1X, not a lightweight camera, but balances well with the M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 Pro

Lenses:

  • M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 Pro with the MC-20 teleconverter; works basically for everything from 5mm size and 50cm distance upwards.
  • M.Zuiko 60mm F2.8 Macro, sometimes with extension rings; I use it for close distance and small insects from 0,5mm to 20mm

If you need a photo for a publication, please contact me when you need the uncropped full-resolution photo. Only out-of-camera JPGs are available, no RAW Format.

Workflow (Software):
1) Download from camera (Picasa)
2) Removal of bad photos (Picasa)
3) Brightness correction and selection for upload to iNaturalist (Picasa)
4) Export for processing with XnViewMP
5) Cropping/Rotation of selected images (XnViewMP)
6) Upload to iNaturalist
