Welcome to my profile!
I am a Virginia Master Naturalist interested in insects, birds, herps, and flora. I study environmental sustainability and conservation at George Mason University and am particularly interested in the distribution and ecology of Lucanidae (Insecta: Coleoptera). My current research is focused on the characterization of the stag beetle, Lucanus elaphus, within Virginia using supplemental observation data recorded here on iNaturalist!
I have experience working with natural history collections from my time as a contracting technician in the Program of Human Ecology and Archaeobiology and Biorepository of the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). I have also had the opportunity to work hands-on with wildlife as a field technician with the National Ecological Observatory Network. I am currently an entomological research associate at the Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve and manage The Preserve's iNaturalist project (listed below), where I contribute weekly journal posts highlighting observations, old and new.
