I'm a dedicated naturalist living on Vashon Island in Puget Sound. My interests encompass the full spectrum of biota, but my studies have focused most heavily on birds and arthropods, thereby earning myself a host of desirable nicknames such as “the bug whisperer” or “that bird lady.” I rely on my own first-hand observations, photography and field notes, as well as established reference works and online resources in order to identify wildlife, educate within the community and assist in the building of a more comprehensive local nature knowledge base. Some of the ways in which I have pursued this goal:

Contributing Editor for BugGuide

Education and outreach work for the Vashon-Maury Island Audubon Society

... and (most importantly) countless hours spent slowly exploring and experiencing nature with my camera
